Carolyn RobertsAfter spending shall we say, a number of years, raising a family and working part-time, I took the decision 6 years ago to re-ignite a passion for art.

At first this was confined to obtaining an A Level and Life Drawing Certificate but as the saying goes, ‘From little acorns…’ Success with this led to a Distinction in my Foundation Course in Art and Design, thence to a Fine Art Degree (First Class Honours)!! at Loughborough University – who would have thought it at the age of 51!

Although my initial exhibitions consisted of site-specific installations including sound, I am, at present, rediscovering my love of mark-making, drawing and painting using a variety of mediums. My inspiration comes from the landscape; from The National Forest, Peak District, Yorkshire Dales and Moors, the North Norfolk coast and beyond…

Fascinated by the contrast between the apparent permanence of the landscape and its fragility, I am also interested in capturing the essence and textures of a place… hence my use of marks combined with soft washes of inks and watercolour.
